Why anchors carry weight
Anchor text tells the search engine what the destination page is about. It remains one of the strongest relevance signals a link delivers — which is exactly why overdoing it is the classic self-inflicted problem.
Profiles where most links use the same commercial phrase are trivially easy to flag, for algorithms and human reviewers alike.
What a natural distribution looks like
In the campaigns we plan, branded anchors and raw URLs dominate — often half the profile together. Topical phrases ('seo tools', 'link building guide') make up another chunk, and generic anchors ('read more', 'this article') fill the rest.
Exact-match commercial anchors stay a minority: roughly 10–20% for established sites targeting money pages, and less for newer domains. The exact number matters less than the shape: variety, with commercial intent as the smallest slice.
Plan anchors across orders, not per order
A single package can carry commercial anchors if the rest of the profile is branded and healthy. The danger is repetition across months — order after order using the same exact phrase.
We keep anchor sheets per client and check the running distribution before each fulfillment. When you order here, you can supply a full anchor list and we'll flag anything that looks risky before placing it.
If your profile is already over-optimized
Don't rush to remove links — dilute them. Earn branded and URL anchors until the commercial share shrinks to a normal slice. Removal is slow, risky, and rarely necessary.
Track anchor percentages monthly so drift gets caught early. Most penalties-by-anchor are really death by a thousand repeated orders.

Sparingly. New domains get the least tolerance for commercial anchors — lean branded for the first months.
