What the Readability Checker does
The readability checker scores how easy your writing is to read using the Flesch Reading Ease and Flesch-Kincaid formulas, the same measures used by editors and content teams.
How it works
The tool counts words, sentences and syllables, then applies the Flesch formulas. Flesch Reading Ease returns a score from 0 to 100, where higher is easier; Flesch-Kincaid returns the US school grade needed to understand the text.
It also reports average sentence length and the share of complex words, the two factors that most often drag a score down. Shorter sentences and simpler words raise readability.

Readability Checker questions
